The OCM extends its heartiest congratulations to the Wushu Federation of Malaysia (WFM), an ordinary member of OCM, for its outstanding achievements at the 17th World Wushu Championships, held from 1st to 7th September 2025, in Brasilia, Brazil.
The WFM delegation, comprising of 8 athletes (4 men and 4 women), delivered Malaysiaโs best-ever performance at the World Wushu Championships since its inception in 1978, with an impressive total of 8 medals, 5 golds, 1 silver and 2 bronzes.
This historic feat surpasses Malaysiaโs previous best results of 4 gold medals, achieved at the 2005 and 2013 World Wushu Championships.
The 5 gold medals were contributed by the following athletes:
1. ๐ฆ๐ถ ๐ฆ๐ต๐ถ๐ป ๐ฃ๐ฒ๐ป๐ด – Menโs Jianshu & Menโs Qiangshu events
2. ๐ง๐ฎ๐ป ๐๐ต๐ฒ๐ผ๐ป๐ด ๐ ๐ถ๐ป – Womenโs Nangun event
3. ๐๐ฒ๐ฒ ๐๐ถ๐ฎ ๐ฅ๐ผ๐ป๐ด – Womenโs Daoshu event
4. ๐ง๐ฎ๐ป ๐๐ต๐ฒ๐ผ๐ป๐ด ๐ ๐ถ๐ป, ๐๐ฒ๐ฒ ๐๐ถ๐ฎ ๐ฅ๐ผ๐ป๐ด and ๐ฃ๐ฎ๐ป๐ด ๐ฃ๐๐ถ ๐ฌ๐ฒ๐ฒ – Womenโs Duilian event
In addition, ๐ง๐ฎ๐ป ๐๐ต๐ฒ๐ผ๐ป๐ด ๐ ๐ถ๐ป contributed a silver medal in Womenโs Nandao event, while the 2 bronze medals were contributed by ๐๐ฒ๐ฒ ๐๐ถ๐ฎ ๐ฅ๐ผ๐ป๐ด in Womenโs Gunshu event and the trio of ๐ฆ๐ถ ๐ฆ๐ต๐ถ๐ป ๐ฃ๐ฒ๐ป๐ด, ๐๐น๐ฒ๐บ๐ฒ๐ป๐ ๐ง๐ถ๐ป๐ด ๐ฆ๐ ๐ช๐ฒ๐ถ and ๐๐ฟ๐๐ฎ๐ป ๐ง๐ถ ๐๐ฎ๐ถ ๐๐ถ๐ฒ in Menโs Duilian event respectively.

โUnder the visionary leadership of Mahaguru Datoโ Dr. Chong Kim Fatt, the development of Wushu in Malaysia has achieved the remarkable milestones at world stage, such as winning Malaysiaโs first gold medal at the World University Games in 2023 after a 38-year wait, Malaysiaโs first gold medal at the World Games in August 2025 after a 12-year wait and the historic 5-gold achievement at the World Wushu Championships in September 2025โ,
โFurthermore, through his tireless efforts, Wushu was successfully reclassified as a sporting activity by the Ministry of Education Malaysia in 2024, having previously been categorised as an uniform co-curricular activity since its introduction in schools nationwide in 1999โ he concluded.
